Home Annapurna & Mustang Mardi Himal Trek
The Mardi Himal Trek is relatively near Pokhara. This trek is far less famous than the Poon Hill or Annapurna Base Camp trek. Therefore, you can hike in peace, taking in stunning mountain views. Firstly, the path goes through oak and rhododendron forests. But as soon as you are walking on the Mardi ridge, you can enjoy a 360 panoramic view.
After you have arrived in Pokhara, a private drive will bring you to the starting point of the Mardi Himal trek. After that, you hike a winding path through forests of oak & rhododendron to Pitam Deurali and Forest Camp. During hiking in the forest, you regularly see the Annapurna mountains. But the best panoramic views start at Middle camp. From here on, the Mardi Himal trail follows a ridge with grass and some isolated bushes.
Once you have arrived at High Camp, you are very close to some famous Annapurna mountain peaks. Machapuchre, or Fishtail, and Annapurna South show themselves in full glory. Finally, a four-hour walk brings you to a viewpoint further up at Mardi Himal Base Camp. A breathtaking scenery and a peek into Annapurna Base Camp are the rewards. Shortly after you have tracked back to Middle camp, the trail descends towards Lumre. A pleasant drive takes you back to Pokhara.
For those seeking more adventure, it is possible to combine the Mardi Himal Trek with the Panchase trek.
