Home Langtang & Ganesh Ruby Valley Trek
The Ruby Valley trek connects the Langtang region with the Manaslu region. This off-beaten trek takes you on steep mountain trails through the Himalaya hills. Even though this is a short trek, it is quite a challenging trek. Often you have to do a lot of ascending or descending. Also, the trail from the Tham Bhanjyang pass is only fit for experienced mountain hikers.
Along the way, you regularly pass by local villages and terraced fields. As you are hiking, you can enjoy amazing views of the Ganesh Himal range.
The Ruby Valley trek starts with a comfortable jeep drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. In fact, this is the local hub for numerous treks in the surrounding areas. Nearby, in Gatlang, you start hiking the Ruby Valley trek to the holy lake of Parvati Kunda. It’s a small, tranquil lake with a lovely homestay nearby.
In the following days, you will visit the local village of Somdang. After that, stay in the teahouse next to the Pangsang La pass. With clear weather, you will enjoy great views towards Ganesh and Manaslu right through your bedroom window! After the pass, you hike through several rural villages. Here, you spend the night at local home stays and authentic teahouses. Farmers are working their fields while you pass by. From Khading, you will head on a new trail crossing the remote and challenging Tham Bhanjyang pass.
You have now arrived in the Manaslu region. Now, it’s slowly descending to Soti Khola, where your Ruby Valley trek ends. Finally, a private jeep will take you back to Kathmandu.
If you feel like more adventure, you can perfectly combine the Ruby Valley trek with all the Manaslu & Tsum Valley treks.
