Introduction

The Pokhara to Muktinath trek is the perfect easy trail in the Annapurna region. During the trek, you slowly gain some altitude and travel through local Nepal. Finally, you end in Muktinath for a cultural experience.

Pokhara to Muktinath Overview

Not far from Pokhara, your Pokhara to Muktinath trek begins. Along the trail, you slowly ascend beside terraced fields and through local villages. When you arrive at Ghorepani, you wake up early the next morning for a treat. Before dawn, you climb up the hill for an amazing sunrise view. Famous mountains like Annapurna I and Dhaulagiri change color during the sunrise.

After that, you hike through some local villages again. During this part of the trek, the Annapurna region slowly transforms into the barren landscape of Mustang. Situated on the dry Tibetan plateau, this region receives very little rainfall. Here, you find a surrealistic landscape formed by drought and wind. Here, Tibetan Buddhism thrives among the locals. Marpha is a village that still shows the authentic culture and housing. Also famous for its tasty apples and products made from the apples.

Eventually, you arrive at Muktinath. A holy site for both Buddhists and Hindus. The small temple is a must-visit for every pilgrim, and many bathe in the cold holy taps. You need quite some time to explore the entire site and to take in all the cultural temples.

The following day, you hike through the beautiful and remote Lupra Valley. Finally, you arrive in Jomsom, where your Pokhara to Muktinath trek ends. Here, a short flight will bring you back to Pokhara, where you can relax near the lake.
