Annapurna Base Camp

The Annapurna Base Cam trek starts near Pokhara where you can see the snowy mountain peaks. This popular trek takes you to the heart of the Annapurna mountain range; the Annapurna base camp. Along the trail you pass rice terraces and see village life of the local Nepalese inhabitants. At the highest point of this trek, the Annapurna base camp at 4095 meters, you will be treated to a panoramic view of all the majestic mountains of the area. This horseshoe shaped area is considered as sacred by the local Nepalese who call it the sanctuary.

From Kathmandu you travel by car or plane to Pokhara. The town of Pokhara lies next to the beautiful Phewa lake, and from here you can see all the snowcapped mountain peaks of the Annapurna region. From Pokhara the Annapurna Base Camp trek starts. From day one, you have amazing views of the characteristic Machapuchare mountain, also known as Fishtail mountain. While travelling through the rich rhododendron forests you will constantly see Machapuchares special contours. At Chomrong you enter the area of the base camp and the sanctuary. After a few days of climbing, crossing rivers and forests you will notice a change in temperature. Because of the altitude, the temperature drops. During the ABC trek you will cross the Machapuchare base camp. At the horseshoe shaped area of the sanctuary you are surrounded by the impressive mountain peaks. This impressive sight is a sight you will not easily forget. After the visit at the sanctuary the trail takes you back to Chomrong. From here you walk a different path back to the road where a car will bring you to Pokhara. In Pokhara and the Phewa lake you can recover from this beautiful trek.
It is possible to combine the ABC trek with Poon Hill trek.
