You start the journey with a travel from Kathmandu to Lukla. A spectacular flight of about fifty minutes that takes you to an airfield amidst the mountains. From Lukla it is a two days walk to the village of Namche Bazaar where you stay an extra day to acclimatize your body to the altitude. This walk is ideal for further acclimatization, for you walk higher and sleep lower. A visit to the visitor center of the Sagarmatha National Park offers an interesting introduction to the local flora and fauna, and the Sherpa culture. The trek continues its path along the two Buddhists Monasteries of Thyangobche and the Gompa of Dingboche. These monasteries are important cultural centers in the Khumbu region. In Dingboche follows another day for you to acclimatize. During this day it is possible to make a small climb to a ridge with views of Ama Dablam, Makalu and Amphu Labtsa peak. After Dingboche the trek takes you to Gorakshep and you walk along moraines and an icy path. Slowly you hike towards Everest Base Camp and get a view of the impressive looking Khumbu icefall. At Everest Base Camp endpoint you can have a good look at the impressive snow moutain peaks all around you. After a night sleep in Gorakshep you climb to Kala Patar for the following day. From this mountain spot you can almost touch the Pumori mountain. This beautiful scenery will take your breath away. The next few days we slowly descend towards Lukla.
