Rara Lake is situated in Western Nepal. The biggest lake of Nepal lies in the rain shadow of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Himal ranges and is a drier and very arid area. Rara Lake lies at an altitude of 3062 meters. It has a water surface of eleven square kilometers, is five kilometers long and two-and-a-half kilometers wide. Situated in high altitude, you find the lake surrounded by the Rara National Park, a rich pine, spruce and juniper forest. This region is of unique floral and faunal importance with its rare and vulnerable species. The park flora consists of 1074 species, of which sixteen are endemic to Nepal; the fauna includes fifty-one species of mammals and 214 species of birds.
Rara Lake lies in Nepal’s most remote areas and is relatively unexplored by foreign travelers and remains mysterious even to Nepali people. Although more trampled than in the past, the trail to Rara Lake is still sparsely in services compared to the more popular trails. During this trek you stay at homestays and sometimes at camping sites. The homestays are simple, and basic accommodations. The food is local, traditional Nepali food.

The trek begins with flight to Jumla. You wander through virgin forests and experience life in the region’s charming villages that are rarely visited by tourists. Before you arrive at the bank of the lake you must cross two mountain passes. On your way you will pass several rural villages. Beautiful forests are blended with local villages and farmlands. On the banks of the lake we will set up camp for you where you will have plenty of time to walk around the lake. During camp you will enjoy the special surroundings and serenity of the area. After this special visit you will return to Jumla airport.
