The Annapurna Circuit is a classic trek and is one of the most popular trips in Nepal. No wonder, because it is a spectacular and varied trekking route. During this trek you get the change to explore the Himalaya from bottom to top. Starting in the subtropical lush green valleys you climb up to alpine valleys to reach the Thorung La pass at 5416 meters. After the pass it is downhill towards Poon Hill where you will be treated on an impressive sunset over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain range.

From Kathmandu we drive to Bhulbule and the next day you start your trekking. The first days it will be warm while you walk through the bamboo forests and past farm villages. Lodges along the trail offer you a pleasant resting areas and you can strengthen yourself with some noodle soup. In the green valley you walk besides rushing streams and deep pools shaped by the water. The further you get up in the valley, the more the around you scenery changes. The landscape changes into an alpine valley where and the temperatures are getting lower. You pass traditional Tibetan villages and Mani walls, chortens and prayer wheels which are clear signs of Buddhism. In Manang you stay a day to acclimatize. You can take an optional day hike to the Braga valley where you can enjoy some coffee and cake at the German bakery. Towards the high Thorung La pass the landscape will change into a high alpine valley. The wind is constantly around you, and the prayer flags are fluttering rapidly sending prayers for good luck. Eventually you reach the Thorung La pass at an altitude of 5416 meters. The crossing of the Thorung La is the highest point of this trek and is sometimes even snow-covered. The panoramic views from this pass are spectacular and you can see the highest mountains tops. Amongst these tops is the famous Dhaulagiri. From Thorung La it is downhill towards back to the subtropical warmth. From Poon Hill a spectacular sunrise is another highlight of this trek. At last you hike past pretty Gurung villages towards Pokhara.
